At Lakeway Copperleaf Homestead Assisted Living in Lakeway, TX, we believe the best care happens when a whole community shows up — not just the people on the payroll. Volunteering here is not about filling a role. It is about building real relationships with people who have lived full, remarkable lives, and discovering what it truly means to serve others with your whole heart.
Whether you are a student building clinical hours, a neighbor looking to give back, or someone simply curious about senior care, there is a place for you here.

We do not have a narrow definition of the ideal volunteer. We welcome anyone who shows up with genuine intention and a willingness to learn. Here are just some of the people who have found a home with us:
Are you enrolled in a CNA or CMA certification program and need a real facility to practice your skills? Copperleaf offers a warm, supervised environment where hands-on learning happens naturally — not in a simulation lab, but alongside real residents who benefit from your care. Social work students seeking practicum or internship hours are equally welcome. Our LCSW co-founder Dennard McInnis understands the academic requirements of field placement and is happy to work with your program coordinator.
Thinking about a career in senior care but not sure if it is right for you? There is no better way to find out than to spend real time in a real home. Volunteering at Copperleaf gives you genuine hands-on exposure to daily caregiving — ADL assistance, meal support, activity facilitation — so you can make an informed decision before committing to a career path. Many of the best caregivers in this field started exactly this way.
You do not need a credential or a career goal to volunteer here. If you live in Lakeway or the surrounding area and want to do something meaningful with a few hours each week, our residents would love to meet you. Bring a skill, bring a story, or simply bring your presence. Connection is the most powerful thing you can offer.
Do you have a talent or professional background that could enrich life at Copperleaf? We welcome volunteers with skills in music, art, fitness, cooking, gardening, photography, technology, marketing, event coordination, fundraising, and more. If you have something to share, we will find a meaningful way to put it to work.
Our signature intergenerational program connects local students — including students from Westlake Chinese Academy — with our residents through storytelling, music, cultural exchange, and shared activities. It is one of the most joyful things that happens inside these walls. Learn more about the Bridging Generations Initiative.
Volunteer contributions at Copperleaf are as varied as the people who offer them. Some of the ways our volunteers make a difference:
Daily Life & Personal Care Assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, mobility, and mealtimes — always under staff supervision and appropriate to your training level.
Cooking & Dining Helping in the kitchen alongside our culinary team, assisting with meal prep, plating, or simply sharing a meal and good conversation with residents at the table.
Activities & Enrichment Leading or co-facilitating recreational activities — from puzzles and board games to music sessions, gentle movement, creative arts, or cultural celebrations.
Household & Environmental Support Helping maintain the warm, welcoming environment our residents call home — light housekeeping, organizing, errand support, and seasonal decoration.
Marketing & Communications Helping us tell our story through photography, social media, content writing, or community outreach. If you have a creative or communications background, this is a genuinely impactful contribution.
Event Coordination & Fundraising Helping plan and run community events, resident celebrations, and fundraising initiatives that support our programming and enrich life at Copperleaf.
Administrative & Operational Support Coordinating volunteer schedules, supporting intake processes, or helping with day-to-day operational tasks that keep things running smoothly.
Volunteering at an assisted living facility is not a one-way transaction. Our volunteers consistently tell us they leave with more than they brought:
We would love to hear from you. Whether you have a specific role in mind or simply want to explore what might be a good fit, reach out and let us start a conversation.
